Building Psychological Flexibility for Academia

Friday 13th November, online - registration required
Riverbank at the Botanic Gardens

In this workshop we will explore the concept of psychological flexibility, why it’s so important to our mental health and wellbeing, and how we can develop and nurture this throughout our careers.

We are all facing challenging times in UK Universities. Job insecurity, reduced resources, and increased competition, all increase the stress we are under. This can make us feel anxious, scared, frustrated, and its likely we are behaving in ways we might not like: more grumpy, angry, or disengaged. Much of this feels outside our control, so what can we do?

The workshop will include experiential exercises and working in pairs or small groups. We will be exploring some of our difficult thoughts and feelings, identifying our core values, and planning how to move forward. You will be invited to share only what feels comfortable to you and you will be able to fully participate without sharing any personal details.

Bookings will open on the 4th October.
